Our goal is to act as a responsible corporate citizen and as such our commitment to sustainable development is an integral part of our business strategy. We believe that our company’s growth cannot be achieved without caring for our employees, supporting communities and protecting the environment, in which we conduct our business.
Our ‘For Society’ plan is a five year CSR programme that is an integral part of our business strategy and focuses on two key areas:
Society
Fully aligned with the EU strategy for Information Society and the EU policy i2010 strategy to make IT and Communications technologies accessible to all, PEOPLECERT participates in the following initiatives:
The Microsoft Unlimited programme
The programme is targeted at individuals from socially excluded communities, offering them the opportunity to receive free basic computer skills training. With the completion of the training, participants have the option to test their skills through the ECDL certification scheme. Since 2008, more than 400 individuals have participated in the programme and 200 have received the ECDL certificate.
Habitat (Vodafone- Turkey)
We support the Habitat project, developed by Vodafone Turkey, aiming to offer 100,000 individuals free ECDL certification within two years.
Kethea – Strofi Therapy Centre for individuals with dependencies
Based in Greece, Kethea Strofi was set up to offer support to individuals between the ages of 13-21 with substance dependency issues. The centre supports teenagers through their rehabilitation, by offering support and training for their re-induction to society. PEOPLECERT offers free ECDL certification on basic computer skills for the programme participants.
InAtes – Supporting the Helios School for the Blind and the Panhellenic Association of the Blind
Our systems have been designed to include the Automated Test Evaluation facility, so that visually impaired individuals can take any PEOPLECERT exam. We also offer free ECDL exams to participants of the Hellios School for the Blind and the Panhellenic Association for the Blind.
The environment
PEOPLECERT recognises that the long term viability of our business and community is dependent on sustainable operations. We therefore strive to act as responsible stewards of the environment and commit to continual improvement, through the adoption and implementation of an Environmental Management System certified to the ISO 14001 standard.
The system measures the annual impact of our business operations on the environment, allowing us to monitor and improve our operations and as such contribute to the use of environmental friendly methods.
