PEOPLECERT Turkey, part of PEOPLECERT Group (www.peoplecert.org), the experts in certifying professionals, has received an award from the Six Dots Foundation (http://www.6nokta.org.tr) for its Gain visibility with computers programme that aims to offer training and certification to visually impaired people.
Funded by the EU and developed in coordination with the Six Dots Foundation and the Informatics Association of Turkey, the programme included the training of 60 visually impaired people from across Turkey on ICT skills, through e-learning sessions and ECDL Core certification exam taking.
Candidates took their exams through a specially designed web based examination platform that has been designed by PEOPLECERT to support visually impaired people and includes the Automated Test Evaluation facility. This is part of the organization’s ongoing global initiative that supports people with special needs and has been implemented in other countries through partnerships with NGOs, including Greece, with the organization’s coordination with the Helios School for the Blind and the Pan-Hellenic Association of the Blind.
Supporting visually impaired people through initiatives such as the Gain visibility with computers is part of PEOPLECERT’s global CSR strategy that focuses on society. ‘Our goal is to act as a responsible corporate citizen and as such our commitment to society is an integral part of our business. ‘Gain visibility with computers’ is key to this strategy and the recognition of our efforts encourages us to continue developing systems and solutions that aim to offer equal access to the IT for all’, says Dimitris Nicolaides, Business Development Manager.
