PRINCE2 2017 Update

Reflecting the changing environment in business practices and following direct community feedback the PRINCE2® Guidance and exams were revised in 2017.
PRINCE2’s overall structure of seven principles, themes and processes remain unchanged.

The main changes to the guidance place a greater emphasis on the following areas:

• Tailoring PRINCE2 to the needs of organisations and project environments
• The principles that underpin PRINCE2
• A greater link between themes and principles
• The restructuring of the ‘Themes’ guidance to accommodate specific examples of tailoring
• The practical application of the method and guidance, with numerous examples, hints and tips

PRINCE2 offers a wealth of project management knowledge and Best Practice that needs to be tailored to suit each individual and their organisation. The updated manual, training and examination will help tailor PRINCE2 effectively to ensure organisations and professionals get the most out of the method.

Can I take PRINCE2® classes remotely?

Yes. Some accredited training providers offer virtual classrooms and e-learning.

Which exams are available online?

All PRINCE2® exams are available online.

Which exams do not need to go through a training provider and allow me to self-study?

You can take any of the PRINCE2 exams either after having attended classes through an accredited training organisation or after self-study.

How long does the exam take?

Exam times vary depending on the level. Check each level separately to find out exam duration.

Are the exam questions multiple choice, essay style or both?

All questions are multiple choice.

When will I receive the mark from my exam?

For computer based exams, preliminary exams are available immediately after the exam has finished and are subject to final verification from PeopleCert. For paper based exams, results are sent within 2 days upon receipt of the exam papers.

I recently passed the PRINCE2® Foundation exam through PeopleCert and I have received my certificate. Is there a specific logo that I have rights to use in my communications?

Any individual who would like to include information on their PRINCE2 certification on a business card needs to take note of the following:

An AXELOS Trade Mark logo (e.g. the PRINCE2® Swirl) cannot be used on business cards as they advertise a person/company and not the associated product.

An AXELOS word mark can (e.g. PRINCE2®) be used on a business card as long as the correct symbology is used. For example:
