Centre for Innovation and Knowledge Exchange at Bath Spa University adds PRINCE2 Agile Foundation to its short course curriculum

Bath Spa University’s (BSU) Centre for Innovation and Knowledge Exchange has added PRINCE2 Agile Foundation to its short course curriculum.

This is part of its commitment to provide qualifications that will help adult learners improve their career options. The strategy will also help attract a more diverse student population, whilst reinforcing the University’s reputation for delivering high quality, relevant education.

“Offering professional certifications adds breadth and variety to our offering. It means we can cater for a wider demographic of learners and help those with more diverse goals achieve them. And at the same time, we’ll more effectively meet employer expectations, which is really important in today’s world,” Jane Foulkes, Short Course Unit Curriculum Lead at BSU, explained.

Studying and certifying in PRINCE2 Agile means people will be able to manage projects that are both structured and adaptable, understand the influences on delivery speed, have the skills to improve collaboration and oversee change management.

A win-win for job seekers and employers

Certifications from PeopleCert support the learning journey Bath Spa University offers its students, as Jane described: “Learners increasingly seek tangible and recognised outcomes that can enhance their career development, whether they are advancing in their current roles or navigating a career change. Certifications provide clear evidence of achievement and competence, which is highly attractive in competitive job markets.”

The move comes at a time when unemployment has risen to 5%, and the University hopes to play its part in reversing the trend by offering in-demand skills training: “Providing the PRINCE2 Agile Foundation course is an important part of our vision to provide skills that help adult learners stand out in a competitive employment market,” Jane said.

“The course helps meet employer expectations, strengthening the University's market position as a provider of high-quality teaching. The courses will equip professionals with the ability to demonstrate their strong commitment to professional development qualities, which are highly valued in today’s workplace,” she added.

The Foundation course also complements BSU’s degree courses and boosts overall academic planning and degree development. “Degree courses are evolving all the time, and having the opportunity to develop courses that have complementary certifications running alongside is attractive to students considering studying at Bath Spa University," Jane said.

John Knott, Director, Global Academic Partnerships, PeopleCert, said: “We're proud to support BSU's vision. Their adult learners are often navigating career changes or seeking advancement. They're not looking for any job, they're looking for the right opportunity. PRINCE2 Agile will give them industry-recognised skills that open doors to the project management roles that match their goals.”
